The world’s greatest brands are built on truths. But Jason has known that all his life. As a kid he experimented with an old box camera, tinfoil, paper and passers-by. Beautiful images had to come from what was there. Contours, emotions, muscles in faces, pupils of eyes, glances, skies, walls, the worn shine on the seat of a car.

Thirty years on, Jason works the same way. No fakes. No substitutes. Just the wonders people and places already have, found and framed. His eye searches, the camera remembers. That’s it.

Jason’s images let you can smell the air by seeing it. Sense a joy in a mind by staring a face in the eyes. Hear birdsong from a row of trees.

Visually and beautifully, Jason tells the truth. And that is what communication has to do to succeed.

Jason Knott x Land Rover Campaign: The Magical Kite Maker

On a remote plateau in China lives a magical man who builds even more magical kites. Shooting a campaign for the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Jason put him at the heart of a magical story. A young boy wants a magical kite, so he and his father head to China to scale the plateau and find the master. The boy is now grown up and a father himself. He wants to give his own son the same incredible adventure. At the stroke of dawn, they leave the city and head off to find the kite maker again.

And there he is. Still on the plateau. And at the peak of his craft.

A storytelling project with scores of stories in one. People, travel, mystery, unknown cultures and a car journey of a lifetime.

Magical heaven on a plateau.

Jason Knott x Beyond The Margins Campaign

The roads to homelessness are many. They’re all a stark reminder of how fragile humanity is, no matter its origins. Turns for the worse can come from nowhere. Catching Lives is a group in Canterbury, England dedicated to easing their pain. They provide bedding, meals, company, even routes to jobs and better lives to anyone with nowhere to go.

Jason documented the journeys of volunteers and their extraordinary guests. He captured their battles, scars, outlooks, anger, even eventual hopes, however vague. No cleaning up, no glossing over. A stark and true reminder that, to those displaced in any society, we all have a duty of care.

Jason Knott x That’s Life
Jason Knott x Rob and Sarah

In styles, in tastes, in ways to live, the 1950’s were a cultural revolution. No wonder some people still love to live in them today. Rob and Sarah aren’t just examples, but the epitome. Their carefully loved 50’s house in Reading is a homage to the era. Sarah’s wardrobe, a shrine to Chanel. Rob’s back yard, the home of a Triumph Café Racer, restored with parts bought and scrounged from similar souls.

Rob and Sarah took it for a ride, and Jason caught the shots. Later, over tea in a nearby café, they pondered that great era called the 50’s. The time when ideas and surprise came before profit.

Jason Knott x Behind Closed Doors

People are mysterious things. They’re more than what meets the eye. And the more ordinary they seem, the more there is to find – layers, contradictions, histories you’d never guess at. An ongoing series depicting life behind closed doors of seemingly ordinary homes.

Jason Knott x Regret

The series explores loneliness, longing and loss between two unattached individuals, brought together on balmy summer evening. Both carry their own hidden agenda and shadowy past with no appetite for conversation or a future rendezvous. They converge, share an intense moment, and then part ways, leaving an indelible mark on each other neither had anticipated.
