Summer 2015
Ever since Sarah’s strange discovery of a battered, broken Leica camera in a rockpool on a school trip to France, she’s seen photography as a passport to another more magical world. Even in the artefact’s useless state, it proved the power of the camera and the lens: when she aimed it at people, they reacted. “When you point a camera at someone, something changes in them. It’s like you’re the director of your own movie,” says Sarah. From these ocean-worn origins and via a career as a successful photographer, Sarah Daw as an agency was born in 1991.
In July, Sarah’s grandmother’s favourite month – beloved for its floral flamenco, ritual of shape and colour and Mother Nature’s bright, haute couture catwalk show – now is the perfect time to relaunch sarahdaw.com. The site boasts a new look by art director and designer Terri van Hattum.

WHAT’S NEW
We’re thrilled to have been appointed by photographer and creative director Daniel Freytag, whose thought-provoking images bridge the gap between design and photography. His background as co-founder of renowned studio Freytag Anderson means each image combines design sensibilities and compositions with a photographer’s eye. The results are images that, in his words, capture “those ‘in-between’ moments, giving depth to the unexpected beauty of the everyday.”
Freytag Anderson was one of 100 design studios worldwide invited by Coca-Cola’s global design team to design a poster to mark the 100th anniversary of its iconic contoured glass bottle.

We also welcome pop artist, satirical illustrator former graffiti artist Piotr Bator to our list of artists. Piotr’s witty, satirical imagery is delivered mostly in mixed media illustrations, paintings and collages. “Popular culture expression always interested me,” says Piotr. Its simultaneous complexity and simplicity has provided rich material for the artist, who reckons “we all draw from the great source of popular culture, which is in fact art itself.”

On a more personal note, Sarah returned to the stage to perform in a production of TS Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral alongside a cast including Andrew Hall, Patrick Toomey, Daniel Weyman and Philip Franks, who plays Thomas Becket. Sarah says: “I love TS Eliot – he’s cinematic and I love being on stage with our fantastic cast in robes and woolly tights and bringing the play to a new audience.”
