Bronwyn Kidd
Even after their ads and features are long gone, Bronwyn Kidd’s images live on in minds. Timeless classics, each one a jewel. Crafted with the grist of an artist, a craftswoman’s graft and a perfectionist’s tolerance. Consumers recognise quality: brands that choose Bronwyn can tell the world exactly that.
Bronwyn Kidd
Bronwyn Kidd is a fine artist and master craftswoman in one. Her images are masterworks crafted with grist, hard graft, trial, retrial, re-thought, eternal patience, 20-years of self-perfection. All that and the need to excel every time.
And it shows.
Her works range from ads to commissioned portraits. They grace spaces from fashion publications to fine art galleries to award shows the world over. Her clients, picky connoisseurs, collectors and fashion brands that need to tell the world they’re as bold and bright as she is.
With Bronwyn, it’s exquisitely perfect or not at all. That’s a beautiful concept in itself.
Bronwyn Kidd x Flitescooter
Commissioned by Fliteboard to create an aspirational images of high quality and elegance for their new efoil product ‘Flitescooter’.
The brief asked for lake or sea, we built a pool in the studio beneath a ‘big sky’. Using constant lighting, although challenging technically in getting the sharpness and speed required for campaign imagery, the lighting delivered a big and elegant cinematic feel, and enabled the videographer to capture a grade in line with the stills.
Bronwyn Kidd x Through Her Breath x Carol Brown
Through Her Breath celebrates ancestral breath placing women, whose bodies are the source of our first breaths, as the inscriber of embodied legacies of past and present. Inspired by the feminist philosophy of Luce Irigaray it embraces the idea that an intergenerational, corporeal archive is passed down from our mother’s bodies. Women are the thread, custodians and channel for an archive of embodied memories. The project coincided with the of loss of my own mother to whom I am eternally grateful to for the air she breathed for me and the archive of memories she and mothers before bequeathed to me, informing and guiding my life and practice. Embarking on this series it was essential for me to remember my photographic genealogy in order to reimagine it.
Bronwyn Kidd x Dynasty – Avenel, Victoria, in collaboration with Virginia Dowzer
Shot at a historic post office and once family home of a young boy called Richard Shelton who was saved from drowning in an adjacent creek by the young, later notorious Australian outlaw Ned Kelly. For this act of bravery, Shelton’s family presented Kelly with a green silk sash. This sash was reportedly worn by Kelly under his armour during the siege of Glenrowan.
