Bronwyn Kidd shoots a series of ads for Flemington VRC – Melbourne Cup Carnival

The first image of eight for Flemington VRC 2016. ‘Racing Royalty’ a campaign promotion of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, featuring jockeys Michelle Payne winner of the 2015 Melbourne Cup , and Craig Williams. Art directed by Lauren Doolan at Grey, the campaign magically celebrates each race day with a ‘giant prop’ and the festive congregation of noted racing royalty. To dispel any myth fashion photography is glamorous our stoic crew endured six days of 40 degree heat in a dusty equestrian centre but photographing the most beautiful racehorses and their incredible jockeys and the utmost privilege of photographing the heavily guarded 2016 Melbourne Cup, meeting everyone from the saddle maker to the socialite, racing royalty from every facet of the racing world is the making of memories……then comes the edit, and the retouching.

Braids and bedheads Seb Winter shoots German Cosmopolitan in association with John Frieda

The beauty of braids transcends culture, ethnicity and race. Throughout history braid patterns and styles indicated a person’s community, age, marital status, wealth, power, social position, and religion. During the Flavian period (79-81 CE), the daughter of Roman Emperor Titus, Julia, created lavish up-dos consisting of wire frames, twisted braids and curls. These elaborate hairstyles were popular amongst wealthy Roman women and became even more dramatic in later Roman periods. The more elaborate the style, the more it indicated a woman’s wealth and available leisure time.

Team Nike

Seb Winter was asked by Schwesterschwarz.de to head up as DOP for Sharable Assets GIFS. His task to shoot 400 runners from all over the world to promote the Nike launch of the new innovative LUNAR EPIC running shoe at the Berlin arena. The running track was pitch black, lit only by backlight, a laser tunnel, video tracking and waves…
